My sister had a family reunion a little ways south of us, so she and the kids came here for a couple days beforehand and then they drove down. We had such a great time! Sometimes, two well spent days are far better than a week. We got out and did a lot of fun stuff, and still, it felt like we had plenty of talk-time on the couch.
One day, we took a picnic lunch and ate at the neighborhood park, then let the kids play in the lake-which I never do, so my kids were thrilled! The water was actually pretty warm, even though the day wasn't so much.

Eva tormented the ducks by "feeding them" sand. The next day, Ryan took a day off work and we made the most of it. We went to a nearby beach and the kids found all kinds of treasures (well, mainly Ryan did)-lots of shells, a crab, starfish, these jellyish things on the dock that sprayed water when you squish them, and the clams were spraying our legs. So fun!

Forget the sea creatures! There are chips here!!! (she's got 'em in her arm)
Then Kamie took us out to eat at the Cheesecake factory. MMMM!!!! It's my favorite. What a treat! And the kids were so proper. :)
After lunch, we went to the family fun center, and the kids played until we were all exhausted. Then we gave them lollipops for the drive home. My kids will be talking about this day for years to come!
